Triple Success for Ladies’ Teams

Three Rockmount ladies’ teams took part in the Ulster South Regional finals at County Armagh Golf Club on Sunday 13 August and came away claiming the pennants in all three categories!

The Junior Foursomes Team was first out. The team was co-captained by Anne Wynne and Tish Gilmore. Playing in the match against Castlehume were Ciara Agnew & Leonie Power, Frances Lawther & Abbie Poole, and Barbara Fleet & Pauline McWilliams.

The Minor Cup team, captained by Barbara Fleet, followed and playing against Warrenpoint were: Alex Poole; Hilda Beamish; Karen Gowdy, Donna Montgomery and Noreen O’Hare.

Challenge Cup was the final team to play. Captained by Donna Montgomery, playing against Dungannon were: Alice Tang; Katherina Carswell; Elana Patterson; Moya Sloane and Emma McCloughan.

The teams were very well supported on the day with team subs, caddies, members and family all there to help and to cheer them on.

A delighted Lady Captain, Carol Blyth said: “I am thrilled by these results. I have nothing but praise for our teams who have given generously of their time to practice and play all the matches. I would like to thank Armagh for the use of their beautiful course and facilities and Golf Ireland for organising the days event.”

This fabulous result means they now progress to all-Ireland finals stage.

Quarter final for Junior Foursomes and Challenge Cup will be played on Sunday August 27 at Castle Dargan, Co Sligo. The Minor Cup quarter final will be played on Saturday 2 September at Tubbercurry, Co Sligo. Any supporters would be very welcome!
