Ladies’ Club Awayday
Lady Captain, Rosie McCrea organised another great event for the ladies, her awayday. This year Massereene in Antrim on the shores of Lough Neagh was the chosen destination and it was ‘blessed’ with the arrival of 39 keen golfers from Rockmount.
Weather-wise at the start it looked a bit iffy with some heavy showers en route to Antrim, but it soon blossomed into a beautiful golfing day with a bit of a breeze to keep it interesting..
Everyone enjoyed the course and the golf. The pink ball challenge had a revival for the day and was rather more successful this time with many more balls making it to the 18th than did in Slieve Russell!
Post match the weather was delightful and relaxing pre-meal drinks were enjoyed on the patio overlooking the course and the sparkling lough beyond.
Dinner and and game analysis followed with much conjecture about who would take home the top prize – the fact that there was a sweep certainly added to the interest.
Lots of prizes followed and there was some good scoring. Top honours on the awayday were taken by Mary Masterson, who also placed 2nd in her section in the Massereene Open competition. On that list she was closely followed by a slew of Rockmount players. Runner-up in the awayday, Noreen Mikhael was placed first in her section of the open competition.

There was also a ‘Beat the Lady Captain’ challenge on a long par 3. Fourteen golfers got closer to the pin and a draw was held to decided who took the honours!
