Ladies’ Club Awayday
Ladies’ club captain, Alwyn Higham organised a super 2026 awayday for the membership at Lurgan Golf Club. It had been rescheduled to early October from its earlier date thanks to the success of the teams who reached the All-Ireland stage of the the Minor Foursomes & Junior Cup and the clashing dates.
A bus full of keen golfers took took to the course playing in a scramble. It proved to be fun format, delivering great scores all round. There were just a few who decided that the mid-round gale and deluge were reason enough to abandon play. I believe everyone else was sheltering too far out on the course to make it back in! Thankfully the storm was short-lived and the rest of the round was dry.
Everyone enjoyed the course and the golf. It was the first time for many of our newer members to play a scramble format and it was much enjoyed.
Meal afterwards was super and prize winners were rewarded. Importantly, our incoming vice-captain was announced and we were able to celebrate Tish Gilmore who will serve as vice-captain to Moya Sloan next season before taking up the captain’s role the following year.
Many thanks to our Captain Alwyn for a really great day and congratulations to all the winners.
