28th Rockmount Annual General Meeting

Thursday 24th November saw the 28th AGM for Rockmount Gents and Ladies Golf Club.

The main order of business was to thank outgoing captain William Blyth for a fantastic year and wish him all the best for the future. William handed over the captaincy to Gordon Goodfellow for the coming year. We offer our good wishes and support to Gordon and his new Vice Captain Kevin Smylie. It’s fair to say we are in good hands for the coming year!

As is normal at AGM’s we have some changes in committee positions. Honorary Secretary Martin McConville and Honorary Treasurer Robert Burns are stepping down after a number of years in these key posts. We thank you both for all of your hard work and dedication.

Welcome to our new Honorary Secretary Kevin Stevens, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role and to our new Honorary Treasurer, Gregg Sterrett whose financial knowledge will be a huge asset to the club going forward.

One item of note, proposed from the floor was the use of mats during the winter months. after much discussion and a subsequent vote, it was agreed that mats must be used for all golf played at Rockmount from 10th December. (Mats are available to buy in the shop)

Congratulations to Carol Blyth our new Ladies Captain, I’m sure Carol and Gordon will have a fantastic year

Not only but also, some history created with the appointment of Abbie Poole as our new Junior Captain. Abbie is the first female junior captain and we are sure she won’t be the last!

Finally, our captains have nominated Tiny Life as their charity for 2023.

Northern Ireland’s premature baby charity here to help and provide support services both in the Neonatal Unit and in the community. If you or someone you know have experienced the birth of a premature, ill or disabled baby, it is likely that your baby will have to spend some time in a hospital neonatal unit. This can be a stressful and anxious time. Tiny Life is here to help.  www.tinylife.org.uk
